Forget everything you've ever heard about rum. RAGAN is a "haute couture" cane spirit originating from the south-western part of the island of Mauritius. It is made exclusively by hand according to the family recipe and is distilled three times. It is characterized by a subtle touch of nuts, vanilla and oak barrel.

Jiří Ragan's goal was to create a rum-based distillate that would be dominated by the delicacy and color of the taste. The drink is intended primarily for those who are not fond of most classic rums, but prefer softer and sweeter flavors. And yet they want to enjoy cane distillate from the best ingredients.
From the beginning, he wanted to go the route of small batches, so that he could also include production processes in the recipe that are impractical in mass production. The recipe is based on purely natural ingredients of the highest quality. The basis is molasses from cane growing in the southwest of the island of Mauritius, specifically in the Black River area. The distillation itself takes place three times and is followed by a three-month maturation in oak barrels of red wine from the Republic of South Africa.

Then comes blending, which takes about two weeks. Jiří Ragan is always personally present at this stage of production and brings some necessary ingredients. Most of them are secret, but caramel from the Cognac region of France and vanilla from Madagascar are also added to the distillate. Water, which forms an important part of the resulting drink, is treated by natural filtration.

The distillate then travels from Mauritius to Slovakia, where it is bottled. Heavy glass bottles with crystal clear technology are produced in France, labels are printed in Austria and corks in Italy. Everything is assembled by hand and 5-10 thousand bottles are produced in one batch. Each one has its own number, so it is easy to find out which batch it comes from, when it was made and when it was bottled. Individual batches differ slightly from each other due to manual production and the different taste and intensity of all natural ingredients.

The author of the recipe is Jiří Ragan. A Czech native whose work in the field of finance took him to Mauritius in 2010. He not only lived here, but created a successful rum brand with his former partners. Thanks to this, he became interested in raw materials so that in the future he could create his own recipe that would meet his idea of ​​a "round" taste.
